In July 2014, a “mobile game legion” of representatives from over 100 mobile game enterprises and industrial parks based in Chengdu arrived in Shanghai to attend 2014 The China Digital Entertainment Expo & Conference (ChinaJoy), the most inf luential general game expo in Asia and even in the world. In 2014 Unity Game and App Competition, War Wings, a mobile game developed by MobileFish Ltd based in Chengdu hi-tech zone, won the highest honor—the golden cube award. The winning has put Chengdu “mobile game legion” under the spotlight of global game industry.
Among cultural industries, the ACG industry ranks f irst in terms of growth rate, extent of market involvement, and development prospect. As of now, there are approximately 1400 enterprises in Chengdu engaging in animation production, sales and training, 1200 of which are related to ACG industrial chain.
In 2012, Chengdu’s ACG industrial output value reached roughly RMB 8 billion, realizing a growth rate above 33% three years in a row. As the output value of online games gradually increases, domestic venture investors and internet tycoons start to lay eyes on local online game companies and products, several of which have already been bought out. As domestic and overseas markets grow rapidly, ACG industry of Chengdu is becoming an integration of cultural and digital production, entertainment and communication.
