The Thatched Cottage was the former home of the great Chinese poet Du Fu in Tang Dynasty when he was in Chengdu. During four years of stay here, Du Fu wrote countless poems, 240 of which have remained until this day. The Thatched Cottage is considered a sanctuary in the history of Chinese literature and has been included in the f irst batch of major historical and cultural sites protected at national level. Du Fu Thatched Cottage Museum was established in 1985, holding the largest, best preserved and most famous trails and relics of Du Fu nationwide.
